KOrganizer 2.2.1 has been released

Sep 19, 2001: One month after the 2.2 release, which brought a couple of new features, the release 2.2.1 comes with a few more bug fixes. You should update, if you use KPilot for syncing calendars and todos. A major bug in the syncing code has been fixed. It is also recommended to upgrade to 2.2.1, if you use a version older than 2.2.

KOrganizer 2.2 has been released

Aug 13, 2001: Together with KDE 2.2 a new version of KOrganizer has been released. This release is a major feature upgrade. It includes the following new features compared to the last stable relase 2.1:

  • "What's next" view.
  • Journal feature.
  • Switch to iCalendar as default file format. KOrganizer still also can read and write vCalendar files.
  • Active remote calendar. This means you can have your calendar for example on a FTP server.
  • Drag&Drop of attendees from KAddressbook to KOrganizer.
  • Sending events via KMail.
  • Experimental Project view.
  • Tip of the Day.
  • "Percent completed" and start date setting for todos.
  • HTML export of month view.

New shiny KOrganizer web pages

Aug 13, 2001: Thanks to Klaus Stärk the KOrganizer web pages now have a new look. The layout has been completely redone and information has been updated. They are now much clearer and more pleasent to the eye than before. Thanks, Klaus.

A whole lot of new developer information

May 3, 2001: After the massive changes in the structure of KOrganizer I have now updated the architecture overview of KOrganizer to reflect the new design. In addition to that I put the API documentation online. It was genereated with Doxygen and gives a very detailed overview of the KOrganizer structure. It's worth having a look!

I hope this helps new developers to understand KOrganizer a bit better and encourages you to contribute. If you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask, preferably on the kde-pim mailing list, but you can also send me private email.

One more thing: We need coders to push forward the development of KOrganizer. But as important as coders are people testing, documenting or translating KOrganizer. Other areas of work include the website or artwork. If you are interested in contributing we will surely find something for you that fits your personal strengths and interests. Contact me, if you would like to become part of the KDE community.

Alpha Preview of KOrganizer 2.2

April 22, 2001: KOrganizer is part of KDE 2.2 alpha 1. Some major improvements and new features are present in this version.

Most important is the move from the vCalendar file format to the standard iCalendar format specified in RFC 2445. This is the foundation for a whole new class of features like group scheduling and journals as well as more sophisticated event and todo handling. It also improves interoperability with other calendaring tools. The vCalendar format is still fully supported.

What's new:

  • iCalendar is now the default format of KOrganizer.
  • "What's next" view, a quick overview of imminent events and most important todos.
  • Journals
  • HTML export as month view
  • Project view showing todos in a gantt diagram
  • A lot of minor changes like the improved category dialogs, start dates for todos, improved support of non-ascii charsets etc.

KOrganizer 2.1 has been released

February 26, 2001: As part of KDE 2.1 a new version of KOrganizer has been released. In addition to the usual bug fixes some new features have been introduced:

  • Highlighting of working hours
  • Monthview and Todo view now can be configured to use the full window
  • Day scrollbars in monthview can be now be disabled
  • Improved category editor

You can download the new version from the KDE FTP server or one of its mirrors. It's part of the kdepim package. KOrganizer 2.1 requires version 2.1 of the KDE libraries and a corresponding Qt version.
